HOLLY MILL - What is it and where is it?
For those few who wander in here and have no idea of what the FB site is about, below is a bit from the HOA's site to give residents an introduction.
As mentioned below there are 4 phases, each has a separate entry/exit, but the 4 subdivisions are not connected. There are 663 homes and an HOA. The exit from I-575 is #14.
"About Us
Welcome to Holly Mill - a beautiful family community located in the rolling foothills of Canton, Georgia. Our neighborhood consists of 4 subdivisions: Phase 1 of Holly Mill, The View at Holly Mill, The Enclave at Holly Mill and The Village at Holly Mill.
We have two beautiful pools, a playground for children, tennis courts, basketball courts, nature trails and common areas for our community members to enjoy. The Holly Mill Community is conveniently located off of Interstate 575 with lots of new shopping, restaurants, parks and amenities within a few miles."

12/9/19 SO WHAT IS GOING ON AT: Latitude 34.19551 Longitude -84.508755?
Translating that from Geek Speak you get 3745 Marietta Hwy, Canton, Ga. 30114.
For several months now we have probably driven by and ignored the blue tarps on the fencing at this construction site located halfway between the Micky D's and Kroger and wondered what was going in there.
The answer is that Christian Brothers Automotive of 17725 Katy Freeway #200, Houston, Tx 77094. is putting in a store on this one acre piece of ground. https://www.cbac.com/ There are 12 other Christian Brothers sites in North Georgia. Each franchise is individually owned and operated
Rycon Construction isn't moving very fast but one of these days there will be another CB auto repair store on the site and they say that they "Apply Strong Biblical Principles To The Auto Repair Industry"

Holly Mill info from management company FYI.
2020 Yearly dues remain at $340.
Both the Nomination form and the Proxy are a waste of 1,326 sheets of paper (663 homes x 2) as there will never be a quorum so no one can be elected and owners will never be able to vote on anything.
I only attended 2 yearly meetings and neither reached 50 homes represented at the meeting, even counting the proxy forms. So the current BOD will remain in office without any changes and if one moves or dies etc then the remaining BOD members will simply choose the replacement.

OPENED TODAY - Martin's Fast Food Restaurant - South Canton
Just opened at 3494 Marietta Hwy, Canton GA 30114, Phone: (770)383-1298.
This is just a short block North of the existing McDonald's location, between I-575 Exits 14 and 16.
In theory they are open from 5 am to 3 pm*, however on their unannounced grand opening on 11-14 at 2:52 pm they were swamped with more customers showing up. So at least on this Thursday they would be open past their posted closing time.
Senior Discounts are available for those 55 and older. They must ask for their Senior Cup which is a custom made, logoed, insulated mug with a handle. They give them to our senior citizens upon their request. On subsequent visits our senior customers receive a free coffee or soft drink in their Senior Cup.

AVOID FILLING UP WHEN TANKERS ARE DELIVERING GAS
I learned many years ago NOT to get gas at a station where you see a tanker truck on the property.
There is always some water at the bottom of any of the gas storage tanks at the gas stations. A new delivery mixes the new gas with the water which will result in your engine seizing up within a few blocks.
Today the Kroger station was getting their storage tanks filled up, so I went next door to the Chevron for my $35 fillup.

HOLLY MILL - Recreation area
Nothing going on here this weekend.
The pool closed on Sept 3rd and will be closed until next spring. The children's playground and tennis courts are open for owners, residents and guests.
KROGER GAS STATION - Traffic hazard
Many Holly Mill residents shop at the Kroger on Marietta Hwy (Canton, Ga), just across from the nicer Publix on Prominence Pt Pky.
I get gas at the Kroger gas station across the parking lot from the store and today I found signage for the gas station that presents a traffic issue for those coming in via the main entrance and making that right turn to go to the gas station.
When you come to the stop prior to making the left you find that the new sign is flush with the traffic lane, no setback at all and it blocks the view of traffic coming from the left for those wanting to pull out and go over to the gas station.
The signage should have been set back from the crossing roadway by at least 20 feet and not put abutting the roadway.
Very poor placement of this large sign, someone was not paying attention when this was approved and built.
Sooner or later some driver edging out to see if there was anyone coming from their left side is going to get T-boned. Hurt and perhaps killed.
Bad Kroger, BAAAD KROGER!
This needs fixing asap-

HOME ADVISOR GIVES POOR REFERRALS
In my quest to find a replacement lawn service for weed and fertilizer I turned to 'Home Advisor' and got 3 referrals.
1) Unlimited Landscaping & Turf Management, Inc. (poor ratings)
2) Think Green Lawn Service, LLC (have them now and want to change)
3) All Turf, Inc. (9 visits at $45 ea, so many treatments just run up the bill)
One was for the firm I was not pleased with and the other was one I had looked at over a year ago but decided NOT to even contact them due to their having 37 BBB complaints.
I did not follow up on Unlimited Landscaping & Turf Management, Inc. 5209 Palmero Ct, Buford, GA 30518 and just went about my own screening.
Seems that Home Advisor gives out your email to the various firms and I got an incoming today from them about my signing up for their service.
I wrote back that I would not consider any firm with so many complaints (37).
Just for the heck of it I looked them up again and now they are at 45 complaints, 8 of them in detail with one on July 23rd, all stating that consumers were very unhappy with them.
So I would not put much faith in anything that Home Advisor generates, the recommended companies were not firms I would do business with.

WANNA SEE A PHOTO OF WHAT IS COMING IN YOUR MAIL TODAY?
You can take a look at what packages and first class mail will be delivered to you today. For years the USPS has been photographing all your mail, just the outside (they claim) and recently this info has been put online. It works for home delivery and for most post office box addresses.
For over 200 years the US Post Office was the largest intelligence gathering operation in the USA. Find out all about the free 'Informed Delivery' option from the Post Office and a lot of other relevant info.
Just FYI: they also photograph the outside of all mail entering the postal system. You mail something, it gets photographed, someone mails something to you, it gets photographed. They keep these photos forever and it is all available for any law enforcement agency to look at.

Woman Dies Waiting For Home Warranty Air Conditioner Repair
Harry Samler CBS Atlanta 46 - Sep 12, 2019
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) -- The Better Call Harry Team has received dozens of complaints about warranty companies. Many of them are from families who have air conditioning problems and have clearly suffered through a long, hot summer.
One homeowner who grabbed our attention was Martha Christopher. Christopher’s pastor reached out to tell us that her warranty company, First American Home Warranty, had sent contractors out a total of nine times without getting the air conditioner repaired. One warranty company rep told Reverend Greg Smith that he checked the temperature and it wasn’t that hot.
Another rep told him that if it was an emergency, he should call 911. The pastor did have to call 911 when Christopher was having problems breathing because of a lack of air in the house. Christopher was also dealing with a personal tragedy. Her daughter died from cancer, while they both waited for the A/C to be fixed.
The warranty company said it would replace the unit, but wanted to charge Christopher $1,683. After Better Call Harry got involved, First American Home Warranty agreed to replace the unit at its cost. Now Christopher is finally enjoying the cool temps in her home.
====================
3 Years ago I purchased a 12 yr old home and the seller included as a perk a 1 year Home Warranty with Home Warranty of America. A totally worthless firm operating under 41 variations of their name and totally untrustworthy.
They are in the top of the CBS list of warranty firms with local complaints, they had 8.
These firms have so many exceptions to coverage that you really have little hope of getting anything fixed and 'if' you do get them to send someone out there is a service charge to you of about $75 whether they go forward with any repair or they say it isn't covered.
I looked into this particular firm and it is just a scam. I put it online in a series of blogs calling them crooks. An 'honest' firm would have sued me, they didn't and that alone should tell you they are dishonest.
